The Battlefield with Animated Explosion

After experimenting with the varies option in Particle flow and getting advise from Adam. C.  I have realised that the amount of particles that I need for the explosion will take few weeks to render, so I tried smaller amount of particles with bigger maps and it works. The battlefield explosion was created in 3DS Max with particle flow in five layers and composited with the background in After Effect. I am still not happy with the way the smoke is forming but for the moment it will have to wait. I have urgent things to get on with.
